Mentions of a new, much more aggressive anti-cheat system have been found in CS2 files.
Some lucky users are already trying out Counter-Strike 2. A version of the game that features an offline mode has leaked onto the web. All of this causes a lot of people to access an older version of the game and start digging through their files.
One of these data miners, go get the handle Aquarium unearthed some interesting information, suggesting what changes could be made to the anti-cheat system.
- The files mention a new system known as VAC Live.
- One of its functions is to end games as soon as a cheater is detected.
- So far, Valve Anti-Cheat has, at best, kicked cheaters out of the game, rather than immediately ending the entire game.
- It wouldn’t be the first time that such a solution has been implemented in video games. Valorant’s anti-cheat system works in a similar way.

Of course, the appearance of such a solution in the game files does not yet prejudge anything. Ultimately, Valve may decide not to implement it or make it optional. Such match completion may also be limited to esports tournaments.
Regardless of what the authors ultimately decide, information found in the game’s files shows that Valve is planning a new and improved anti-cheat system, which is good news for anyone planning to play Counter-Strike 2.

It turns out that the bans from Counter-Strike: Global Offensive will carry over to CS2. People who have been banned for cheating in CS:GO will not be able to play Counter-Strike 2 with locked accounts.
