These are the beta players’ 4 big wishes
Better visibility
What is being criticized? The poor visibility of opponents was also often a problem with CoD Cold War. Vanguard is currently seeing something similar. This time it’s not muddy textures that annoy players, but the on-screen effects in combat.
On the one hand, many people are bothered by the large amount of blood that is visible on their own screen as soon as they have been hit. This restricted view made it quite difficult to react, especially when combined with CoD’s quick time to kill.
The other problem, which mainly occurs when shooting, shows CoD expert TheXclusiveAce in the video. Muzzle flashes and smoke partially disrupt the view massively.
What do the developers say? Developer Sledgehammer Games takes note of the beta players’ criticism. On Twitter, they assure that they are grateful for the feedback and that the problems will be addressed in upcoming updates:
We’re aware there is a significant amount of discussion around player visibility and audio mixing. Stay tuned as we will address some of our planned updates later this week.

Eliminate audio bugs
What is being criticized? Above all, there are problems with gunshot noises and the pounding of feet: Many players report that they cannot hear shots fired a few meters away from them. Sometimes the entire game sound is very muffled, regardless of the settings.
In addition, it is important in CoD to hear the steps of approaching opponents – but this is exactly where Vanguard still causes problems. Sometimes these sounds are completely absent, which can cause an enemy to suddenly appear next to you as if out of nowhere.
What do the developers say? Sledgehammer has already responded to the numerous reports of audio bugs and has announced improvements on Twitter: “We are aware that there is a lot of discussion about visibility and audio. Stay tuned, we’ll be announcing some of our planned updates this week ”.
How exactly the sound problems will be solved is not yet known. However, there will probably be a corresponding update before the start of the open beta on September 16.
Customize spawns
What is being criticized? Especially in the new game mode Patrol, it always happened that players spawned directly behind opponents. Or in front of their mouth. Or right next to a mission object. Apparently the spawn points were set completely randomly.
What do the developers say? This issue was already attacked with a patch that improved spawns. The update went live during the ongoing PlayStation beta, which many fans see as a positive sign. The announcements for Warzone also give hope.
Improve the maps
What is being criticized? It is not unusual that new maps get little love from the CoD players at first. But this time many agree on very specific points: Many cards that are officially designed for 6v6 are too big for them.
In addition, the new destruction feature does not seem to be completely balanced, many players report that this sometimes opens up unfair flanks. In Vanguard, wooden barricades and walls can be shot down.
The snow-covered Red Star map in particular has had to take a lot of criticism, especially when it comes to visibility. As the CoD portal ModernWarzone reports, it is particularly difficult on the LastGen consoles:
First hands on impression with #Vangurd 👇
• Red Star’s visibility is horrendous on PS4 Pro
• Red Star is not a 6v6 map and shouldn’t be in the 6v6 playlist
• PS4 pro is having a lot of framerate issues in busy areas and stutters in gunfights
• Gavutu is a good map— ModernWarzone (@ModernWarzone) September 10, 2021
What do the developers say? The developers have already announced that the visibility problems will be improved in an upcoming update. It is still unclear whether and how exactly individual maps will be changed after feedback from the players. We expect that there will be official information on this in the next few days.
Sledgehammer would like to thank the players for the constructive criticism that allowed them to improve the game:
A note about feedback:
We see it all. We welcome it all. We consider it all.
Be constructive and descriptive. Share your reasoning with us. We're listening.
Thank you for sharing your feedback with us and tagging @SHGames. I hope you enjoy #Vanguard Beta day 2!
