A new Square Enix chrono-cross The interview with director Masato Kato and composer Yasunori Mitsuda touched on various elements of the remaster. In particular, the visual novel Satellaview Radical dreamers Appearing Kato noted that Square Enix wanted to bring it back for a while, but initial re-releases didn’t happen because it was “a little embarrassed” and it wasn’t “a completely finished game”. However, once Kato saw the prices he demanded, he agreed. The Radical Dreamers Edition Producer Koichiro Sakamoto also talked about talking to Kato to make sure he was included.
Here is Kato’s full explanation of why Radical dreamers appeared as part of the chrono-cross remaster
I had been approached several times about Radical dreamers. They wanted to combine it with other games, like the Nintendo DS port of the trigger of a stopwatch.
But I told them it was an old title. It breaks halfway. It’s not a completely finished game. So he was a little embarrassed about it and he kept saying he didn’t want to cast it anymore. She didn’t want to see him live again in a new form. So, I continued to refuse them.
But then the game started selling at an incredible price, which was a strange and unpleasant situation. So I thought, “Why not?” It can be embarrassing for me. But if people want to play normally and we let them play, that’s fine. I resigned myself to the idea. I realized it was inevitable. So I said, “Okay, as long as we do it right.” And the matter was settled.
Kato also noted that this visual novel is “not strongly related” to the trigger of a stopwatch there Chrono-Cross. This falls between the two games.
As for Sakamoto, he explained the process to get it in the remaster.
We said to Mr. Kato, “We want to include it. Some people were skeptical about whether it was really necessary. But we felt it was definitely what the fans wanted, so we worked hard to include it.
Mitsuda also weighed in on the decision, which made everyone involved in the interview laugh.
When I heard Mr. Sato say that Radical dreamers would be included, I guessed that Mr. Kato had finally given up. So I told myself that I had to give in. Which was good news for me.
After Mitsuda’s comment, Kato joked:
Maybe it’s because I’ve aged. At that age, we don’t care anymore.
