Fortnite
Fortnite is a very popular video game, especially among teens, but its in-game transactions can be a problem for some parents, as seen in a TikTok video that went viral on social media platforms.
Fortnite, like many other online gaming titles, offers an impressive range of items that can be purchased in-game, such as skins, emotes, and of course, in-game currency to purchase these skins and emotes.
V-Bucks are Fortnite’s version of virtual money and are required to purchase new items in the game’s daily item shop (aside from a few packages that can be purchased with real currency).
Child buys 49,300 V-Bucks
So it’s not surprising that kids occasionally ask their parents for a few dollars to get the latest skins. But one young player took it to the extreme.
A short video by TikTok user “ksmashshipper” went viral on the internet. It shows a distraught mother who is completely shocked that her son has bought 49,300 V-Bucks with her money.
The largest V-Buck bundle that can be bought in the Fortnite store is 13,500 V-Bucks and currently costs 118 dollars. More or less, this means that the child could have bought three of these packages along with a smaller package, or bought four and spent a few.
Reaction of the mother
“You spent an incredible amount of 118 dollars, how can you have 49,000 V-Bucks?” She asked in a follow-up video before she asked someone to take her card from the console.
So far, the original TikTok video has received over 5 million views and a million likes on the platform, with many comments sympathizing with their pain and even having some similar experiences.
