Fans discovered a new trailer for misfortune 4the canceled installment of the popular series from studio id Software.
The images were found on the ArtStation profile of one of the artists working on this team. The trailer dates from 2012. It presents a very different vision of the continuation of the series, compared to what we know today. The developers wanted, in the continuity of the themes of Doom 3, to offer a horror atmosphere and to present a story about the invasion of demons on Earth.
Eventually, this project was abandoned. Instead, id Software released a game simply titled Doom in 2016, which focused on a lighter vibe and spectacular combat, and was mostly set on Mars. However, some of the melee combat elements of this game resemble what can be seen in the trailer for the canceled 2012 game.
The developers returned to the concept of a demonic invasion of Earth in the next installment of the series in the form of 2020’s Doom Eternal. However, the game retains the colorful style and light destruction of the 2016 installment.
Finally, it’s worth mentioning that this isn’t the first time we’ve seen footage of the canceled Doom 4. Various videos, screenshots and illustrations of this game have already appeared on the web many times. A short game, made available last year by the documentary channel Noclip, is particularly noteworthy.
