We’ve got some big news from Camp Ark today, as the team revealed the series’ roadmap for the coming year (and beyond), which includes a new remaster as well as a long delay for Arca 2.

Let’s start with this remaster. In August 2023, we will have Ark: Ascended Survivalwhich takes the form of a “next-gen remaster” of the original Ark: Survival Evolved, specifically for Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS5, and PC.

Xbox owners will be able to purchase Ark: Survival Ascended as part of a bundle for $49.99 starting in August, and will include access to Survival Ascended with Arca 2 when he is finally freed.

Here’s a sample of some of the improvements in Ark: Survival Ascended:

  • Unreal Engine 5 review with Nanite, Lumen and RTXDI
  • Water dynamics
  • Interactive foliage
  • Unreal Engine 5 performance improvements: instanced rendering (large bases, etc.), threaded server networking, and native physics engine
  • Cross-platform multiplayer
  • cross-platform modulation
  • Cross-platform Anti-Cheat
  • survival of the fittest
  • Art resources are updated throughout the game.
  • Newly designed Christmas events take advantage of the next-gen pipeline, released as mods, so they’re always available to play!
  • New content, quality of life improvements, balancing and gameplay changes

how Arca 2it was announced that the game has been delayed outside of its 2023 window for end of 2024.

In a message to the fans, the team explained the reasons for this long setback:

“Our goal is to make ARK 2 the best game it can be and to deliver a truly exceptional and rewarding experience for players. Unreal Engine 5 is incredibly new technology for us (and for all developers), and our goal is to Use this advanced technology to its full potential by creating a game with a reach never before achieved in Studio Wildcard.

As we learn more about the engine and develop the suite, we adapt our workflows and adjust our pipelines to accommodate this new next-gen paradigm, and because of all that entails, we need more development time.”

Due to the delay, there are no longer plans to release Ark 2 widely this year, with a gameplay reveal now scheduled for 2024. However, the team still intends to keep fans “involved” in the process of development throughout this year. .
