Zelda Tears of the Kingdom vehicles played a big part in promotional material, with buildable cars, ships and flying machines. Yes, vehicles are created, not found, as promo material shows Link using the Ultrahand ability to craft vehicles himself, assembling them from parts to form various constructed travel forms. We’ll go into more detail on how it works below, along with some of the best Zelda Tears of the Kingdom vehicles we’ve seen so far.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom vehicles explained

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom vehicles appear to be constructed entirely from parts, with the Ultrahand ability used to move and stick them. However, instead of building towards a fixed or specific design, it seems that players can build any arrangement of pieces and pieces to make a vehicle they like, in a process that feels very improvised rather than set in stone. Once built, these vehicles can be controlled in a rudimentary way, usually by interacting with certain key aspects: fans, sails, etc.

It should be borne in mind that it is not the same as the Fuse ability, which involves upgrading and fusing weapons for better combat results. For more, check out our Zelda Tears of the Kingdom Fusions and Fusion Ability page.

How to Craft Vehicles in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

As the gameplay trailer shows, Tears of the Kingdom vehicles are assembled using Ultrahand, one of the new abilities in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom. Ultrahand lets you move objects through the air and attach them together, and that’s how vehicles are made: unite objects and parts with Ultrahand into a single vehicle that can transport you by air, water, or earth. Some vehicles can even handle both at once, like when we see a boat take off into the air when four turbines are activated.

Here’s some info for building vehicles, based on what we’ve seen so far:

  • You have to find a way to make sure your vehicle will move. Look for fans, candles, wheels or whatever you want. Different parts will move the vehicle through different spaces and in different ways.
  • You can rearrange the pieces if you need. There is no penalty for using Ultrahand and you can separate the pieces as much as you want, so keep mixing and rearranging the pieces until you get the right result.
  • Useful parts seem to be available when you need them. The gameplay trailer showed that when Link arrives at a large lake, there is no boat, but the parts to make a boat are scattered around.

All vehicles in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

So far we’ve seen a variety of vehicles in promotional material, and while there are probably so many combinations of parts that the total number is nearly impossible to count, we’ve seen several trends in vehicle models. presented.

Cars

Cars, or land vehicles in general, probably showed the least of all vehicles, but given that riding horses have been confirmed to return to Tears of the Kingdom, they might as well be the vehicle type the least necessary. . The only land vehicle we saw, pictured above, had headlights, two types of wheels, what looks like a dedicated steering gear, and what looks like some sort of battery or power supply in the back. Undoubtedly more complex than the simple logs and sticks with which we have seen the manufacture of certain vehicles.

Boats

Much more has been revealed about the ships, and so far we’ve seen two significant variations: those powered by candles and those powered by the new fan turbines. The former obviously depend on the wind, but the fans can be ignited by hitting them with a weapon, causing them to temporarily spin and push the vehicle they’re attached to. Of course, that doesn’t just mean boats…

aerial vehicles

Aerial vehicles are arguably the most exciting and necessary thing ever, considering all of Hyrule’s floating islands. We saw hot air balloons who lift Link up into the sky, as well as turbine platforms mentioned above, causing them to pull down to temporarily lift the vehicle into the air.

Is the motorcycle “Master Cycle Zero” in Tears of the Kingdom?

Before this game, there was only one vehicle suitable for this era of Hyrule (not counting simple rafts and giant divine beasts): the Master Cycle Zero motorcycle, which was added as DLC and used parts Guardians as fuel.

Unfortunately, there is no reason to think that the Master Cycle Zero will return – This was not mentioned in promotional material and could arguably render many vehicles that players may render useless. We’ll update this page if more information comes out, but at this point it looks like the bike has been put back in the shed.
