Diablo 4The Xbox Open Beta begins later today and will be available over the weekend, but Activision and Blizzard aren’t expecting it to be a bed of roses. The teams are warning players of “unprecedented traffic and wait times” once the beta moves from pre-order exclusive to fully open to everyone.

In a new blog post, the Blizzard team thanked those who participated in the Early Access Beta, while sending a warning to anyone planning to jump into the Diablo 4 Open Beta this weekend:

Thank you to those who participated in the Early Access Beta. Beta versions are incredibly useful for the development team. (…) With your help, we learned a lot during our Early Access Beta weekend. We plan to learn a lot more this weekend during our open beta, and we want to talk to you about what you can expect and how your participation will directly impact the development of Diablo IV.

When we reopen the doors this Friday to absolutely everyone, we expect a lot of people. There will be long queues, especially on Fridays when we first launch and during peak regional windows. Last weekend helped us forecast the ability to wait this weekend, and we’ll use that ability to intentionally stress our systems for launch. In short, while we know it can be frustrating, we need queues to properly test our services and we design to make sure we have them from time to time.

We can’t thank you enough – by providing feedback, reporting, and waiting patiently in queues to enjoy Diablo IV Act 1, you help us continually improve the game.”

If you’re planning on testing Diablo 4 on Xbox this weekend, keep in mind that you might run into these sorts of issues when Blizzard is testing servers ahead of the game’s release in June.
