Games like Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas are considered by many fans to be one of the best open world games of all time, and critics agree.
Grand Theft Auto II: 70/100
Grand Theft Auto II is one of those games that is not particularly up to date and is considered boring by today’s critics. Of course, the game is considered a cult classic by those who played it back then, and critics at the time called it a great sequel to the original. However, some critics were unhappy with how the gameplay was changed between parts.
Vice City Stories: 79.5/100
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories was a predecessor to Vice City, which was praised for its story and similarities to the original. Similar to Vice City, the soundtrack and voice output were particularly praiseworthy points. On almost all other points, however, Vice City Stories falls flat in the eyes of the critics. The GTA series was starting to repeat itself in the eyes of fans and critics at this point, and going back to the same scene likely didn’t help

The original Grand Theft Auto is a legendary game that ushered in one of the largest franchises in the gaming industry. It was certainly something new for the time. The critics at the time loved the unique action and praised the arcade character of the game. However, in the years since its release, many have recognized some critical flaws in the original GTA.
