“The Marvels”: Here’s the official trailer for the movie starring Brie Larson, Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris.
The heroines face intergalactic villains in this sequel to “Captain Marvel” that connects with Disney+ series. It will premiere in November of this year
They’re a team! Brie Larson, Iman Vellani and Teyonah Parris return as their characters Carol Danvers, Kamala Khan and Monica Rambeau respectively, in The Marvels movie. Slated for release in November this year, the sequel to Captain Marvel (2019) features a new journey for the powerful superheroine who also took part in the battle against Thanos in Avengers: Endgame.
On Thursday night, the first trailer for the upcoming Marvel film was revealed and it consists of an original production that connects to three Disney+ original series – WandaVision, Ms. Marvel and Secret Invasion (starring Samuel L. Jackson). This is because the protagonists of said TV fictions will join Carol’s fight against a villain who threatens the peace of the universe.
The sequel will land some four years after Captain Marvel’s theatrical debut. The character was introduced with a feature film that tackled her origins: who she was and how she ended up joining the Kree warriors in their long fight against the Skrulls. When she returns to Earth, it is the 1990s and at that time she meets Nick Fury (Jackson) when he had not yet promoted the Avengers initiative nor was he the director of S.H.I.E.L.D.

According to the synopsis of The Marvels, this story involves Carol and Monica reuniting after a long time, and both becoming guides for young Kamala: “While Carol and Monica have to reunite their relationship after so long apart, we have Ms. Marvel, who idolizes Carol in the same way Monica did when she was younger. So we have these two adults having to reconcile their relationship while this younger person is also having a relationship that mirrors the way Monica and Carol used to be together.”
The cast is rounded out by Samuel L. Jackson, Saagar Shaikh, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Zawe Ashton and Park Seo-joon, the latter two in antagonistic roles. The film is directed by Nia DaCosta (Candyman) and is based on a screenplay written by herself with Megan McDonnell, Elissa Karasik and Zeb Wells, and is produced by Kevin Feige. Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Mary Livanos and Matthew Jenkins served as executive producers during the development of the project.
