Jurassic Park: LEGO animated special announced for its 30th anniversary

Steven Spielberg’s film to mark its return in brick form for Peacock

In 1993, Jurassic Park hit theaters and ushered in a new era of cinema with iconic characters and dinosaurs that won our hearts. The original film grossed more than $1 billion at the box office and spawned five Universal Pictures franchise blockbusters, animated series and video games. But as part of its thirtieth anniversary, Steven Spielberg’s work will get a new adaptation.

According to a recent statement from Peacock, Isla Nublar is going to be reimagined in brick form with a new animated LEGO Jurassic Park special. The upcoming special could deviate from the cinematic installments and target younger as well as older viewers with a much more comedic twist as part of the LEGO signature humor.

Although the official title has not been revealed, the promotional artwork includes the tagline “The Unofficial Retelling” (something like “The Unofficial Version” in our language) along with a LEGO recreation of the Jurassic Park logo. In addition, the logo has been shown alongside a minifigure of Jeff Goldblum’s older Ian Malcolm and a pun on one of his most referenced phrases in the original film. This suggests that we could also be looking at the possible narrator of the story.

At the moment, the LEGO Jurassic Park special does not have a specific release date, but it is expected to be before the end of this year, coinciding with the 30th anniversary since the original film’s release.
