Actors will not return to live Aquaman, Flash and Wonder Woman in the new phase of the film franchise
After Ben Affleck, Ray Fisher and Henry Cavill, Jason Momoa, Ezra Miller and Gal Gadot should also say goodbye to the DC Cinematic Universe (DCU). According to a report in Variety, the actors are unlikely to return to play Aquaman, Flash and Wonder Woman, respectively, in the new phase of the franchise, now led by James Gunn and Peter Safran.
Momoa, however, is reportedly negotiating another role in the DCU, that of Lobo, an alien from the utopian planet of Czarnia who works as a bounty hunter and interstellar mercenary. The character could make his debut in the franchise in Superman: Legacy, scheduled for release in 2025, marking the official start of the new DCU, or in a solo film.
For Humberto Gessinger, leaving Engenheiros do Hawaii was a “delicious loss of glamor”
After a brief appearance in The Flash, released in June this year, Momoa will return to play Aquaman in the hero’s second film, Aquaman 2: The Lost Kingdom, which hits theaters on December 22.
In the story, according to the official synopsis, “when an ancient power is unleashed, Aquaman must forge a dangerous alliance with an unlikely ally to protect Atlantis – and the entire world – from irreversible devastation”.
In addition to Jason Momoa, the second Aquaman film also features Yahya Abdul-Matteen II (Watchmen), Patrick Wilson (Supernatural: The Red Door), Amber Heard (The Strand), Nicole Kidman (Operation Lioness), Temuera Morrison (The Book of Boba Fett), Dolph Lundgren (Masters of the Universe), Randall Park (WandaVision), Vincent Regan (One Piece), Pilou Asbæk (Operation Overlord) and Indya Moore (Pose).
