This was revealed this Thursday by the specialized music magazine Billboard on its website, in which it details that the tropical drink is also inspired by the “Puerto Rican atmosphere and the music” of the Puerto Rican artist.
According to Sprite, it is the first time it has teamed up with a Puerto Rican artist and the second time it has created a new flavor, after “Sprite LeBron’s Mix,” made with basketball superstar LeBron James.
Describing him as the “perfect partner” to have created an exclusive flavor, Michelle Serrano, beverage brand manager, assured that Daddy Yankee presents this tropical mix “with the same intensity of our original lemon-lime formula that quenches thirst with a perfect tropical twist for this summer.”
The can, meanwhile, is designed and inspired by Daddy Yankee’s career of more than 25 years, and in which elements such as his initials, his autograph and an “emoji” from his song “Problema” are highlighted. This year the drink will be sold in Puerto Rico for a limited time.
This is not the first time that Daddy Yankee has joined forces with Sprite, because prior to his record of twelve presentations at the Coliseo de Puerto Rico in San Juan, “Con Calma pa’l Choli”, the company included the artist in the design of their soda cans.
There were four different designs that Daddy Yankee illustrated on these cans, all worked by Puerto Rican artists.
Each model included an animation by Daddy Yankee and some phrase of the most recognized lyrics of the musical exponent.
