With the hashtag #RespectShakira (Respect Shakira), several users of social networks demanded respect for Shakira in the face of the constant “misogynistic” and “denigrating” attacks she receives from some soccer fans.
It is known that the Colombian has a relationship for eleven years with the defender of the Barcelona Club, Gerard Piqué, with whom she has two children. However, every time the athlete fails or the team loses, she receives offenses from the fans.
Last Sunday, FC Barcelona lost 4-1 against Paris Saint-German in the round of 16 of the UEFA Champions League. After the result, some fans of the French team held a demonstration in Paris where they displayed banners with reference to Shakira.
Among the images shared on Twitter, you can see a banner where they wrote “Shakira belongs to everyone” and another in which they hold an inflatable doll that has the singer’s name on it.
Before the images and in the middle of the commemoration of International Women’s Day, various Twitter users and fans of the star came to her defense and expressed their dissatisfaction with the samples that they have described as “misogynistic and sexist”, creating the hashtag # RespectShakira, which managed to become a trending topic.
So far, neither the singer nor her partner have spoken about the support posts from fans around the world.
I can’t believe they insult Shakira like that. This has a name and is called HARASSMENT. The fact that she is a partner of a footballer does not give them the right to treat her like that and less when we are in the month of women. #RESPECTSHAKIRA pic.twitter.com/SAP3OSIvZg

Let’s remember that this was not the first time that Shakira received misogynistic attacks from MEN football fans. MAY IT NEVER BE REPEATED AGAIN. #RespectShakira pic.twitter.com/azswiKsvrD

How unfortunate that some soccer fans are denigrating a woman, with insults, how Shakira belongs to everyone “or ‘Shakira is a prostitute’ just for being the wife of a rival player. Unfortunate machismo against a woman for fanaticism#RespectShakira pic.twitter.com/Ie008HJ1Lt
