Ye, the rapper formerly known as Kanye West, was suspended from Instagram for 24 hours. Many of his posts have been removed .
The news, first given by TMZ , is that the temporary suspension of Ye would be linked to the violation of the rules of Instagram regarding bullying, harassment and hatred. Ye used her account of him to attack his ex-wife Kim Kardashian and her partner Pete Davidson, but also to insult Daily Show host Trevor Noah, who talked about Ye’s worrying behavior in the last episode .
Suspended accounts can no longer post, comment or send direct messages to other users.
Aside from posting several negative comments against these people, Ye recently used the platform to share the video for his single Eazy , which shows a plasticine figure of himself kidnapping and beheading another plasticine figure representing Davidson, the partner of the ex-wife. According to a screenshot from a text message posted by Ye, Kardashian is concerned that the rapper’s social media behavior might lead her fans to hurt Davidson .
“We delete content with credible threats or hate speech , which target individuals to demean or slander them , display personal information to blackmail or harass a user, and unsolicited repeated messages,” reads the Instagram community guidelines .
Even so, the speech bar is always a bit higher when it comes to public figures. Instagram notes that it usually allows for “stronger discussion” when celebrities are involved “given their profession or the businesses they have chosen.” Many posts mocking Davidson are still visible on Ye’s Instagram , while at least one post against Noah with a racial slur has been removed.
