Actress Demi Moore made her surprise debut on a fashion runway on Wednesday. The celebrity opened Fendi’s virtual presentation during the haute couture shows at Paris Fashion Week.

Demi Moore, 58, wore an off-the-shoulder black silk suit, baggy pants, elaborate earrings, and a dark tote bag. She then took to Instagram to describe the moment as “the realization of a teenage dream.”

The show also marked the debut of designer Kim Jones, who presented his first haute couture collection for Fendi since joining the brand last September.

After succeeding the late Karl Lagerfeld as artistic director of womenswear and haute couture, Jones was up to the occasion. It featured an impressive collection of flowy layers, glittery evening dresses, and androgynous masculine looks.

His Spring-Summer 2021 collection, with inspirations ranging from Gian Lorenzo Bernini’s baroque marble sculptures to Virginia Woolf’s 1928 novel “Orlando,” was revealed through prerecorded video. To the beat of a soundtrack by composer Max Richter, the models walked through the dramatically lit labyrinthine set at the historic Palais Brongniart before resting in transparent boxes based on the brand’s ‘double F’ monogram.

Moore described the collection as a “beautiful and magical debut.” The actress was followed on the catwalk by industry stalwarts such as Bella Hadid and Cara Delevingne. Also featured were the iconic ’90s supermodels Kate Moss, Naomi Campbell and Christy Turlington. While Moss’s daughter, Lila Grace, 18, was another surprise addition to the star-studded parade.

“Thank you to the wonderful cast that made this happen, true friends and family,” Jones wrote on Instagram after the performance. “I love you all!”

Although Moore is known for her sense of style –– and for her appearances on the covers of fashion magazines such as Harper’s Bazaar, Wednesday’s parade marked her first big moment on a catwalk. It comes just a few months after her appearance in a video for Rihanna’s lingerie brand, Savage x Fenty. There she appeared in a black leotard.

Jones has already dressed the Hollywood star. Demi Moore posed at Dior, where Jones also serves as Men’s Creative Director. On that occasion it was for a photo book, celebrating its first year on the French label, which was released in October 2019.

With Covid-19 restrictions limiting travel and complicating physical fashion shows, brands have found new ways to showcase their creations. Fendi was one of several houses to present collections online as part of this year’s Digital Haute Couture Week. The Spring-Summer 2021 shows will take place from January 25 to 28.
