Britney Spears asked her sister, Jamie Lynn Spears, to stop using her name to promote her new memoir, “Things I Should Have Said,” which she just published this month.

The singer’s lawyer, Mathew Rosengart, sent a letter on Wednesday demanding that the artist’s younger sister “cease and desist from making derogatory references to Britney during the promotional campaign.”

“If you don’t and continue with the defamation, Britney will be forced to consider and take appropriate legal action,” assured the representative in the letter.

Despite the fact that Jamie Lynn Spears has stayed out of the scandals that have surrounded Britney’s life, in recent months the singer has publicly accused her sister of benefiting from her work and not providing support when she begged for an end to the legal guardianship that controlled his life for almost 14 years.

“Although Britney has not read and does not intend to read his book, she and millions of her followers are shocked to see how he has once again exploited her for monetary gain. She will not tolerate it, nor should she,” the lawyer insisted in the letter.

Jamie Lynn Spears has always maintained a lower public profile than her older sister, but is known for starring in the television series “Zoey 101” and participating in Netflix’s “Sweet Magnolias.”

Last week, Jamie Lynn Spears offered an interview on the “Good Morning America” program, one of the most watched morning shows in the US, in which she assured that “she did not know what was happening”, when her sister was put under a legal guardianship controlled by her father, according to the California Justice.

The younger sister also maintained that she did not benefit financially from the guardianship and that she “chose to distance herself” from it, as she became pregnant at 17 and wanted to focus on her family.

However, in excerpts from the book that have been released, Jamie Lynn Spears accuses Britney of “throwing her to the media wolves” when she declared in court that she wanted to “sue her entire family.”

Britney, whom the Justice agreed with and ended her guardianship last November, has published several messages on Instagram, some in an aggressive tone and others more conciliatory, in which she shows her disappointment with her sister’s statements and recalls that she came to wait “days” for her to answer her calls.
