The vice president of Argentina, Cristina Fernández, received this Sunday the first dose of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine against the coronavirus in a hospital in Avellaneda, in the province of Buenos Aires.Fernández has highlighted through his social networks that the act of getting vaccinated is not only for a matter of personal safety in the face of the pandemic, but by doing so “others are also taken care of.”

Vaccination of the vice president is within the strategy of the governments of Argentina and the province of Buenos Aires, whose senior officials are being vaccinated to make the population see safety and the need to submit to the puncture. So far, the Buenos Aires authorities report, 102,156 people have received the vaccine.

The first to receive the vaccine last week was the Minister of Health of Buenos Aires, Daniel Gollan, followed by the Governor of the province, Axel Kicillof and the Vice Minister of Health of Buenos Aires Nicolás Kreplak.

The next to receive the punctures have been the president of Argentina, Alberto Fernández; and the Minister of Health, Ginés González García.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health has reported 5,031 new infections this Sunday and another 90 deaths from coronavirus. In total, 1,867,223 people have contracted the disease, of which 1,656,149 have recovered, but 46,827 have died.
