Technology is a wide world that does not stop growing. From the metaverse to NFTs (non-fungible tokens), it is already part of our daily lives. But the question now is what is the future of social networks ? And the CEO and founder of Zuckerberg Media, Randi Zuckerberg, is the one to answer.
The auditorium of Usina del Arte , located in the City of Buenos Aires, was attended this Saturday by the world leader in technology , who was interviewed by Iván de Pineda. Social networks, the metaverse, NFT and the entrepreneurial role of women were some of the main topics discussed.
The role of Influencers in the present and in the future
“The role of influencers is more important than ever. There is so much information that content curators are needed, among whom there are many interested in niche topics” , Randi assured in the framework of an agenda of business networking meetings organized by the MediaHub group.
Regarding the creation of a faithful community, the founder of the HUG incubator admitted that, “in the face of so much content creation, nobody knows who to trust and they need to do it” . “Success takes years and trust is created with the content that it offers values” , advised the sister of Mark Zuckerberg, creator of the social network Facebook.
The Metaverse or Web3
“Web 1 was about connecting information, Web 2 was about connecting people, and Web 3 is the economics of ownership . What happens when you own what you do online? The metaverse is about a representation of oneself, which will interact with what happens in the real world and will also open up many economic opportunities “, assured the founder of Facebook Live.
The Metaverse -he emphasized- ” is not an alternative world, but it allows us to escape from reality”. She also mentioned what happens with big cities and that fictional universe: “The Metaverse will have a better adoption in boring places because in cities where everything is amazing, like New York or Buenos Aires, there will be a competition between them . But what about a girl who lives in Pakistan and cannot go to school? ”.
“People think of the metaverse and associate it with gaming and entertainment, which is very important. But there is a lot of education and health to invest in on the web3 . For example, very complicated surgeries can be done online or attend to the doctor,” she added.
In turn, one of the main collectors of NFT (Non-Fungible Token, in Spanish) projects led by women revealed that 95% of those who are investing in the technology are men . Therefore, she encouraged that group to understand and learn from this world “that is opening a new industry of electronic commerce that did not exist before” .
What will happen in the next five years at a technological level
“There will be disruption at the economic level , and it will be questioned by companies: ‘what happens when the wallet becomes the credit card on the internet, instead of logging in with a username and password?’ And what happens in the supply chain and e-commerce will matter ,” Zuckerberg predicted.
Along the same lines, she pointed to education and a new disruption, such as the pandemic: “At that time, the burden falls on mothers who leave the labor market. For this reason, we have to change the education model. We cannot have equality of gender, without resolving that issue ”.
“Everything we think is great in this generation, we will be laughed at in the next,” she admitted.
“As humans we want to feel comfortable with the skills we have, but to be an entrepreneur and an innovator you have to feel uncomfortable, think of new things and accept that it is okay to be a beginner . No matter where one is in life, one should not hesitate to keep learning, and thus you will be able to be at the forefront of changes ”, she advised.
“At the end of the day, the only thing we have is the integrity of the values as a person. Everything we do should be a reflection of what we stand for and believe in. We must be passionate. My passion is that more women participate in more businesses”, Randi concluded.
Within the framework of the interview, Randi received the mention “Guest of honor of the City of Buenos Aires” , in the hands of the head of the Buenos Aires Government, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta ; the Secretary of Innovation and Digital Transformation of Buenos Aires, Diego Fernández ; and the legislator Darius Grandson .
