Paramount is preparing a spin-off of the Without a Sound franchise that was originally supposed to be directed by Jeff Nichols, but which ultimately found his replacement.
Since Paramount picked up a nice jackpot with the latest Without a Sound 2 – $ 297 million at the global box office in the midst of a pandemic – the third installment of the horror franchise has become a big issue for the studio which has makes the project one of its priorities. For this new opus, John Krasinski – who directed the first two – has however decided to hand over the baton.
The filmmaker had first set his sights on Jeff Nichols ( Shotgun Stories , Take Shelter and Midnight Special ) whom he personally courted to go behind the camera. But it is finally with another science fiction project from Paramount that the underrated director intends to make his big comeback after the 2016 film Loving . The new film in the Sans un noise saga has therefore remained orphaned for a few months before Deadline recently announced that Michael Sarnoski was finally chosen to take over .
Also according to Deadline , Krasinski was impressed by the latter’s first feature film, the sensitive and surprising thriller Pig with Nicolas Cage , and therefore decided to put Sarnoski on the list of directors to meet.
Sans un noise 3 will be a spin-off and not a direct sequel to Sans un noise 2 . Actress Emily Blunt is therefore not expected to reprise the role of Evelyn Abbott, but the film will still be produced by John Krasinski under his Sunday Night banner with Allyson Seeger donning the executive producer cap alongside Michael Bay, Andrew Form and Brad Fuller for Platinum Dunes. For the moment, it is not yet known if Michael Sarnoski will also take care of the writing of the scenario which will take again the original idea of Krasinski.
No details on the story, timing or cast have yet been released. On the other hand, the release date of Without a Noise 3 (which is expected to change the title) is still scheduled for March 31, 2023.
