Singer Demi Lovato premiered her new song “Unforgettable” and dedicated it to a friend who died of an overdose. Through her social networks, the interpreter announced that the song is inspired by Tommy Trussell III, who died in 2019.
The two-time Grammy award winner debuted her new song last Saturday, and decided to write on Twitter that this song is inspired by a friend who “meant a lot to me.”
“Two years ago I lost someone who meant a lot to me. His name was Tommy and he was such a beautiful and special man. I wrote this song the day after discovering that he had lost the battle with addiction.” She wrote.
In her publication she also promotes the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration hotline (1-800-662-HELP). She also announced that the net proceeds will go to The Voices Project, an organization that helps the recovery of people with addictions.
Demi Lovato’s new song has been well received by her staunch fans and mutual friends of Trussell. “Tommy touched many,” the singer wrote in her Instagram stories.
It should be noted that Demi Lovato also made public her fight against addiction, this after suffering an overdose that almost caused her death in July 2018.
She later told details of her life in the YouTube Originals documentary series “Demi Lovato: Dancing with the Devil” Plus a companion album, which recreates the traumatic experience of the title track’s music video.
