Kim Kardashian has teased her costume for this year’s Met Gala on Instagram.
The Met Gala or charity of the Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, is one of the most prominent social events of the year.
A gala show that usually takes place on the first Monday in May, and the party marks the opening of the Costume Institute, a museum department that has a collection of more than 33,000 costumes and accessories, an annual show, with a parade of well-dressed guests posing on the grand entrance staircase to the museum.
Anticipation levels for this year’s event are high after last year’s event was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic. This year’s event was also postponed, hence it takes place in September instead of its usual May date.
Earlier today (September 13), Kardashian posted various historical looks from her Met Gala appearances over the years on her Instagram Stories, hinting at what she might be wearing for this year’s event.
Looks Kardashian shared included her famous 2018 Versace gold dress and 2019 Thierry Mugler latex dress.
Since 1995, the guest list has been carefully chaired by American Vogue editor Anna Wintour, and this year it will continue this tradition.
Tickets cost $ 30,000 (£ 23,000), while tables cost $ 275,000 (£ 211,000). Only those who have passed Wintour’s approval will have the chance to attend the $ 3.5 million (£ 2.69 million) event.
All money from ticket sales is donated to the Costume Institute, which is the only department at the Met Museum that has to be funded. In 2018, it was reported that just over £ 12 million was raised.
Each year, a tradition at the event is that various designers and celebrities are selected to co-chair the event together with Wintour.
For 2019, Wintour selected singer Lady Gaga, tennis champion Serena Williams, singer Harry Styles and Gucci designer Alessandro Michelle as his co-chairs.
