Vladimir Putin confirmed on Wednesday that he was vaccinated against COVID-19 with Sputnik V, after months of keeping the formula he had received a secret.
“This vaccine is efficient. It has no side effects. I think I had to have the longest protection and I decided to get vaccinated with Sputnik V. The Armed Forces also use Sputnik V and I am the high commander”, he responded in an interview with the chain RT.
As detailed, after the first dose he suffered pain in his arm and after the second, a few lines of fever for a few hours. “Twenty days later, I was tested and had a high level of antibodies,” he said.
The president also explained that there are 10% of people who get sick despite having received the vaccine, but stressed that they suffer from a mild picture of COVID.
The Kremlin seeks to boost the vaccination campaign amid a strong wave of infections and deaths. Russia registered 669 deaths from coronavirus on Wednesday in the last 24 hours, a record for the second day in a row. However, the president said he opposes a mandatory immunization campaign.
