From the image posted on Weibo, a Chinese SNS (currently deleted), you can see that Xiaomi’s folding smartphone is an inward folding type with the screen facing inward. Such inward-folding smartphones such as Samsung’s “Galaxy Z Fold 2” in South Korea and Huawei’s “Mate X 2” in China have already appeared on the market.

In addition, there is a triple camera and the “MIX” logo on the back of the main unit. From this, it seems that Xiaomi’s folding smartphone will be introduced as the “Mi MIX series” in which some of the company’s advanced terminals have appeared.

China Xiaomi announced the concept of a tri-fold smartphone in 2019, but in 2021, the image of the inward-fold smartphone that was leaked this time was leaked. In the leaked image, there was a large distortion in the crease in the center of the display, but I am wondering if this problem has been solved in the product version.

With Android smartphones already announced by several companies as “wind-up smartphones” that can expand the screen, it may not be surprising if Xiaomi announces an inward-folding smartphone. Even so, Xiaomi is good at terminals with sharp functions and excellent cost performance, so I would like to expect even the folding smartphones that may appear in the Mi MIX series to differentiate from other companies.
