As of January 1, 2024, the minimum hourly wage was approved to increase to $14 dollars per hour. The increase in the minimum wage will not stop here, since by 2025 it is already agreed that the minimum wage will increase to $15 dollars per hour.
It should be noted that Chicago, which is located in the state of Illinois, has the highest minimum wage in the entire area, which in 2023 was $15.40 dollars per hour for companies with more than 21 employees; $14.50 dollars per hour for companies with up to 20 employees and $12 dollars per hour for those with employees under 18 years of age.
