The World Health Organization (WHO) today notified 304,000 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the lowest figure since it was lowered for the last time on October 13, 2020 of the 300,000 daily infections.
The number of deaths per day (8,028) is the lowest since December 28, the last day in which fewer than 8,000 deaths were reported.
On December 20, the highest number of daily cases in the pandemic was registered (840,000, more than double that of today), while the day with the most deaths (16,655) was more recent, on January 22.
In the accumulated total of the pandemic, global cases of COVID-19 amount to 106.3 million, with 2.3 million deaths, always according to WHO statistics.
Data from national health networks indicate that the doses of the anticovid vaccine administered in the world are already close to 150 million: 43 million of them have been inoculated in the United States, 40 million in China, almost 18 million in the European Union and 13 million in the United Kingdom.
Recovered patients on the planet are close to 80 million, almost four fifths of the total, while of the 25 million active cases, 0.4 percent (102,000) are in serious or critical condition.
