Republican James Comer seeks to trace the then-Vice President’s communications to show that he allegedly used pseudonyms to conduct personal business under cover of his government position.
James Comer, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, asked the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) to provide documents and communications from Joe Biden’s time as vice president, as there are alleged indications that, using pseudonyms, he and his son Hunter may have done business with Ukrainian companies.
As part of the investigation that he has been conducting for months, the Tennessee Republican seeks access to the emails of the then vice president’s records, which include messages sent or received related to Ukraine and the gas company Burisma, since in the latter Hunter Biden served as part of its board of directors.
Comer also requested documents and communications where Joe Biden allegedly used a “pseudonym” to maintain contact with his son Hunter or his business partners Eric Schwerin and Devon Archer.
The purpose of the investigation is to try to determine whether Hunter Biden’s business dealings with Ukraine influenced his father’s policy decisions or benefited him financially during his time as the nation’s vice president.
Although Democrats have dismissed information about the Biden’s alleged business dealings at the expense of his power in the federal administration, in recent weeks the Committee has released memos purportedly attempting to link the father-son activities.
In this regard, James Comer hopes that by accessing unredacted information it will be possible for him to get to the bottom of his investigation and thus prove that Joe Biden engaged in corrupt acts.
“We already have evidence that then-Vice President Biden talked, dined and drank coffee with his son’s foreign business associates. We also know that Hunter Biden and his associates were informed of then-Vice President Biden’s official government duties in countries in which they had a financial interest. The National Archives must provide these unredacted records to advance our investigation into Biden family corruption,” he said.
Repeatedly, however, White House spokesmen have ruled out that the president has done business with his son.
In fact, a few weeks ago, in an appearance Devon Archer, Hunter Biden’s friend and business partner, stated that the president’s son was selling the idea that he had direct access to the White House, when in fact he did not.
