Authorities are looking for a driver who fled the scene after fatally hitting a pedestrian in Sylmar.
The accident happened in the 13700 block of Hubbard Street, near Foothill Boulevard, around 12:40 a.m., according to police reports.
The victim was taken to hospital where she later died.
Police report the car involved is black, likely a Honda Civic. Apparently, the driver later pulled over, after hitting the pedestrian, but then continued on and disappeared from the scene.
“At this time we are looking for the vehicle and the person involved in the accident so that they can tell us their version of what happened, because they are gone,” said Lisset Fuentes, an officer with the department of Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD).
“We want to talk to you and give us some details about what happened here this morning.”
The City of Los Angeles is offering a $50,000 reward for information in hit-and-run cases.
