A man aboard a Metro A Line train in Long Beach was stabbed to death on Wednesday and the suspect fled.
Long Beach Police Department officers responded at approximately 3:38 p.m. to the 100 block of East 1st Street to a report of a stabbing and located a man with apparent stab wounds to the body, a said the police.
The victim was taken by paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department to a hospital where he died of his injuries, police said.
The unknown male suspect fled the scene before officers arrived, police said.
The stabbings occurred six days after the stabbings at Hollywood/Western subway station and on a train bound for Westlake/MacArthur Park station.
Metro does not plan to implement additional security measures in response to the recent stabbing attacks, Metro spokesman Patrick Chandler told the Long Beach Press-Telegram.
“There are always security measures in our system,” Chandler told Press-Telegram, adding that the transportation agency contracts with the Los Angeles and Long Beach Police Departments and other agencies. law enforcement to ensure safety.
“We have the Metro Transit app, people have their phones, they can call 911, we have emergency signs on trains and in stations. We have Metro traffic security officers, we also have private security.
