The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom may have underwater exploration, as one fan discovered after yesterday’s gameplay demo.
On the Tears of the Kingdom subreddit (opens in a new tab), an observant fan spotted a possible clue that Link is exploring underwater in the Breath of the Wild sequel. As noted in the post, it looks like Link can use his new Ascend ability while submerged underwater, which means he could be useful for exploring the depths of the ocean.
In screenshots, taken from yesterday’s Tears of the Kingdom gameplay demo, we see Link free falling through the sky, where his Ascend ability is greyed out, meaning players can’t activate it when ‘he falls. However, it briefly revives once Link hits the water and his head sinks below the surface. However, once it respawns, the ability decreases again. This small detail has convinced fans that this time we will be able to explore the depths of Hyrule.
Possible evidence of underwater exploration? tears of r/kingdom
There are already plenty of new features in Tears of the Kingdom that we didn’t have in Breath of the Wild, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to think that a new dive mechanic might be introduced in the sequel.
We also discovered that Link can build rafts with the other new ability Ultrahand, which seems to be a pretty clear reference to the 1960s Nintendo toy of the same name, so who’s to say he won’t be able to build a submarine. of some sort. friendly? Granted, that part is probably overkill, but we think this Reddit user might be onto something.
