Police are investigating a shooting that left one person dead in Lauderhill on Sunday.
Officers responded to the 3700 block of Environ Boulevard after receiving 911 calls for suspected shootings that occurred just before noon, police sources told Lauderhill.
Upon arrival, officers found the man unconscious and with gunshot wounds, taking him to Broward Health, where he died of his injuries, police said.
So far, the identity of the deceased person has not been released, nor the suspect’s motive for taking such action, police said.
Investigators on site had focused their investigation on two areas, a parking lot in front of a cultural center and a grassy area in front of a condominium building.
A neighbor showed CCTV footage that caught the victim running south on Environ Boulevard as he was chased by a white U-Haul pickup truck.
The victim was shot multiple times and collapsed outside a condominium building where she was found by police. In the surrounding area, blood splatters were seen on a decoder close to where the person was found.
One of the bullets shattered a sliding glass door to one of the condominium units where a man was sleeping inside but was fortunately not injured.
Neighbors said they were surprised to see the heavy police presence in the area. It’s “scary, it’s a really quiet neighborhood, I’ve lived here for many years, over 10 years, nothing really happens here,” said a neighborhood neighbor.
