Just a few weeks ago, Microsoft made headlines by signing historic deals with Nintendo and Nvidia, promising to bring Activision Blizzard games like Call of Duty to those platforms and others for at least 10 years.
The FTC, which is currently investigating Microsoft’s deal to acquire ActivisionBlizzardwants to see more documents outlining those deals with Nintendo and Nvidia because he’s worried Microsoft won’t deliver on its promises to keep franchises like Call of Duty on all platforms, according to Insider Gaming.
“Microsoft made a similar argument when acquiring ZeniMax, but then decided to make newly acquired ZeniMax titles exclusive,” the FTC claims. Sony continued to raise similar exclusivity concerns and was a constant thorn in the side of the deal.
The FTC is requesting documents regarding the content exclusivity of the ZeniMax acquisition and the exclusivity proposal that Microsoft plans in the event of an Activision Blizzard acquisition. Despite plans to close the deal this summer, it seems the FTC is still looking for more evidence that Microsoft will create the gaming ecosystem it promised.
