The most iconic Dragon Ball video game saga returns with a delivery that NO ONE expected to see at this point
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa at wakeDragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 was just announced and I didn’t see it coming“. But it’s that the WHO was going to see it coming, if the only thing we had months ago was rumors that Dragon Ball Xenoverse 3 was supposed to be in development. Well Zasca: Dragon Ball fans’ most beloved saga returnsand that’s saying something with what something like FighterZ has achieved.
But obviously, fifteen years having passed since the release of the previous Budokai Tenkaichi, it is clear that nostalgia alone won’t make Budokai Tenkaichi 4 the best game in Dragon Ball history. So, I’m going to list a series of things that I see as absolutely IMPERATIVE for this video game to stand out in the brand’s historical catalog.
ALL anime story sagas, available in Budokai Tenkaichi 4
- If anything is clear to me with Budokai Tenkaichi 4 it’s that we will have available the saga of the Saiyans of Dragon Ball Z in the Tournament of Power of Dragon Ball Super. But I want more.
- Obviously the teaser with Son Goku in Super Saiyan Blue already tells you that Dragon Ball Super is going to be included, but it’s just that Dragon Ball is much more than its last two great sagas.
- Therefore, I think Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 4 should also include both Dragon Ball GT and the original Dragon Ball saga.
- Whether this will be done from the start as part of the main story (something which given that the original Dragon Ball is canon shouldn’t be an issue) or through expansions like Kakarot received, the truth is that I don’t know, but already at this stage It’s not worth half the Dragon Ball video games to have revived the same sagas so many times.
A cast of characters like you’ve never seen in a Dragon Ball video game
- Today there are mobile video games like Dragon Ball Legends and Dragon Ball Z: Dokkan Battle that allow you to play Dragon Ball with an impossible cast of characters. I’m not asking Budokai Tenkaichi 4 to do the impossible, because it really is impossible, but yes, stay as close to this one as possible.
- I mean by that that ALL DBZ and DB Super characters that have battled at some point MUST be available. It is absolutely necessary. And obviously based on what I’ve said previously, I’m also hoping it will be the same with a good number of fighters from Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball GT.
- In fact, if this Budokai Tenkaichi 4 really wants to unleash madness, Dragon Ball Heroes characters should be explored as “extras”. I’m not easy on anime, but there’s no denying that officially adding all those characters that many fans have been integrating for years as mods would be an extra point that, again, absolutely no one cares about. would wait.
An in-depth combat system that lives up to the Budokai Tenkaichi 4 name
- Dragon Ball FighterZ has been as good as “bad” in Dragon Ball video game history, basically because now something that doesn’t even come close to the complexity and delicacy of this video game will be misplaced.
- Things as they are: seeing a game that has the per-character combo depth of Dragon Ball FighterZ can only happen with a FighterZ 2 precisely, but Budokai Tenkaichi 4 should (at least) obtain a deeper experience than that offered for example by Xenoverse 2which with its dodging system has become quite obsolete today.
- Also, I also think that Budokai Tenkaichi 4 should incorporate all kinds of combat options for players: local multiplayer, online, with the possibility of confrontations 2v2, 3v3 or swapping characters à la FighterZ. This Budokai Tenkaichi 4 cannot come to light just as a traditional 1v1, after so many years of waiting and the newest video games in the franchise, it has to be a PARTY for the fans.
Character creation system with absolute freedom in EVERYTHING
- sorry but I love that Dragon Ball Xenoverse allows me to create my own character. I’m aware that this saga has as many fans as detractors, but the ability to create a Saiyan to my absolute taste and enjoyment has always blown me away.
- With that in mind, I need Budokai Tenkaichi 4 to allow me to create my own character. Or whatever. Ultimately, I don’t expect story-level involvement like in the aforementioned Xenoverse, but it’s just available. Actually, an alternate story mode like the ones Soul Calibur incorporated (if I’m not mistaken) to play only with created characterswithout anything too ambitious or complex, would be enough to quench that thirst on my part.
I don’t know if anyone can think of anything else to make this Budokai Tenkaichi 4 as memorable as it was when it was announced, but I definitely think what i listed would cause many of us to lose our minds with the game when it launches. Obviously, at this point, it looks like its arrival is quite a ways away, and while I guess we shouldn’t throw in the towel with 2023, I will take it that 2024 marks the franchise’s 40th anniversary. In any case, the main thing is to be lucky for the return of Budokai Tenkaichi.
