Chilpancingo (Mexico), March 5. Hundreds of community police and residents of the municipality of Teloloapan, in the northern region of the state of Guerrero, in southern Mexico, marched this Sunday for peace, while supporting the security policies of the federal government which involve a military presence.

About 500 locals as well as members of the community, mostly dressed in white, gathered on the federal road that connects Tierra Caliente, to the point known as the Greek Y or Tecampana monument, from where they marched to the center of the city. .

Citizen police participated in the protest, but only some were armed as part of the surveillance.

On the town hall esplanade, protesters gathered and staged a rally, where they pointed out that 7 years ago when community policing was established, security rates had gone down.

“In Teloloapan, the kidnappings, robberies, homicides are over, we live in peace and the government of the Republic, the government of the State know it, there are the statistics,” said one. .

During the rally, one of the leaders said that in this municipality the security strategy deployed by the federal, state and municipal governments has been complemented by the Tecampanera, although sometimes, he acknowledged, they have been beaten and branded as a criminal organization.

“But they are wrong, our task is to keep the families of Teloloapan safe,” he added.

In January of this year, in a joint operation, the military forces, the National Guard and the State Police removed the checkpoints that the community police of Tecampanera had in at least eight points on the federal road in this northern zone of the entity and registered clash between the two camps.

However, they reiterated that in the region “there is peace and quiet, that’s what governments can read, they can make comparisons and the results will say the crime rate has come down tremendously.”

A trader took the floor and said that what they want is for there to be peace and work in their businesses without being disturbed by criminals and also thanked the presence of the military.

“As in Teloloapan where the 41st Infantry Battalion brought us security and peace, we have no more kidnappings, we ask the three levels of government to pay a little more attention to our situation, we want may there be peace and that we move forward in safety,” he added.

At the end of the rally, they shouted cheers to the President, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and to the Governor, Evelyn Salgado Pineda, whom they thanked for the security in this municipality.

These protests are occurring amid the president’s growing militarization policies, which has handed public security tasks to the armed forces. EFE
