a new destiny 2 Xbox Live Background is now available. This is despite the game being its own PlayStation title following Sony’s acquisition of Bungie.
No Destiny 2 theme for PS5 players
The existence of a new Destiny 2 Xbox theme once again highlights the lack of themes on PS5. Although owners of the next-gen PlayStation 5 console clearly want the themes back, Sony hasn’t implemented them in the 27 months since the console’s launch.
The new Xbox theme is designed around the recently released Lightfall expansion, giving players a way to bring gaming aesthetics to the Xbox dashboard.
Tom Warren of The Verge tweeted a snippet of the new Destiny 2 Lightfall theme for Xbox:

It’s not yet clear when PS5 owners can expect the themes to hit the platform. For now, all users are stuck with the same UI, with no meaningful way to customize it.
Hopefully Sony is working behind the scenes to bring themes to the PS5 as soon as possible, so that it reaches the same level of customization that was available on the last-gen PS4.
Although there is no PS5 theme available, the Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion is now available to download and play. Here are the patch notes for the update.
