The municipal president of Ecatepec, Fernando Vilchis Contreras, has filed a complaint with the Attorney General of the State of Mexico (FGJEM) to investigate several threatening messages against him after a group intervened on his telephone line suspected criminal.
They arrested a subject who allegedly impersonated the Veracruz prosecutor, Veronica Hernández Giadáns
The subject is believed to be related to the hack he suffered in August 2022
In the early hours of this Friday, from the personal WhatsApp account of the mayor of Morenista, several voice notes were sent to close collaborators with threats from alleged members of a criminal group.
Vilchis Contreras said he went this morning to the premises of the FGJEM to launch the investigation file ECA/ECA/01/MPI/184/00817/23/02, because there are indications that the crime organized could be behind this fact, which comes after the arrest of several criminal cells by the municipal police of Ecatepec in recent weeks.

The Mayor issued a message accompanied by the Director of Public Security and Municipal Traffic, César de Jesús García Pacheco and the Commander of the 37th Military Zone, Brigadier General Graduate of the General Staff, Jorge Pedro Nieto Sánchez, in which he condemned the acts committed against them and which also threaten third parties; He also warned his acquaintances not to respond to messages that were sent from his phone number.

“We will never back down from what suits us, we have the support, the sum total of the population and above all the institutions that accompany us at all times, we will continue with a firm step and Ecatepec will never agree with the mafia, groups dedicated to crime, neither common crime nor organized crime”, underlined the municipal president.
Vilchis Contreras announced that the call for the March for Peace remains firm, in which thousands of citizens, organizations, traders, businessmen and transporters will go to the Federal Chamber of Deputies, the Senate of the Republic and to the city of Toluca to request the support of the said authorities to strengthen the fight against delinquency in the municipality.
He indicated that in the four years he has been in charge of the municipal government, Ecatepec is no longer among the 50 cities in the world and 17 in the country with the highest rates of violence, but co- responsibility of other areas of government is necessary to consolidate the progress made in terms of security.
