RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Former Real Madrid player Marcelo signed a two-year contract with Brazil’s Fluminense on Friday.
The 34-year-old Brazilian footballer terminated his contract with Olympiakos last week, just five months after signing for a year. Marcelo has only played nine games for the Greek club and scored three goals.
“It’s time to go home,” he posted on social media.
Fluminense posted a collage of the club crests adorned with the famous left-wing hairstyle.
Marcelo left Real Madrid last year as the club’s most decorated player. In 15 years, he has won 25 trophies, including five Champions League and six national championship titles.
Marcelo is expected to play as a midfielder for Fluminense. The player was part of the Brazilian squad in the 2014 and 2018 World Cups.
