Two younger brothers, including a minor, were injured after a shooting Monday night in a southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood, police said.
The shooting happened shortly after 9:00 p.m. in the Homestead Avenue and Indigo Street area of West Perrine, according to information shared by Miami-Dade Police (MDPD). Officers responded after receiving an alert from the ShotSpotter system which registered at least a dozen shots.
When police units arrived they found the injured youths, one 19 and the other 16, who were taken to Jackson Memorial South Hospital in non-critical condition, according to the porter. word of the police, Álvaro Zabaleta.
Police said the 16-year-old has two warrants outstanding for alleged assault with a firearm and possession of a firearm by a minor. Zabaleta said he will be taken into custody once he leaves the hospital.
The shooter or alleged shooter is still at large.
The circumstances of the shooting and other details have not been released by police. This is an ongoing investigation.
