Santo Domingo, 19 Feb. – Puerto Rican artist Rauw Alejandro launched today in Santo Domingo his “Saturno World Tour 2023” world tour, a show that combines technological effects, music and dance on stage.
Rauw Alejandro, one of the main exponents of urban music, brought together more than 20,000 people in the Quisqueya State of the Dominican capital, which on this occasion left baseball aside and hosted the first stage of a tour which will take this musician and dancer, until next November, to the stages of America and Europe.
With a staging that simulates the arrival of a special ship on Earth, Rauw Alejandro and the accompanying dance troupe took the stage to the shouts of his followers when “Punto 40” began to play, the one of the most successful songs from his latest work, “Saturno”.
An audience who, during the two and a half hours that the concert lasted, remained on their feet chanting and dancing to the rhythm of Rauw Alejandro’s songs because, as he said himself at the start of the concert, “music can change the atmosphere, it is the best medicine that human beings have created”.
But Rauleeto, as he is also known, did not sing alone on stage: he was joined by half a dozen artists and friends, including the American Chris Palace, with whom he sang the song “Gatas”, and also other Dominicans like Flo 28, La Perversa or Nino Freestyle.
The emergence of Ángel Dior had pride of place, with whom the Puerto Rican artist participated in a particular dembow, “Tamo en nota”, and who together sought to transform the scene into the already famous 42nd street of St. Domingue, converted into a center for urban musicians.
And starring in the show are the Jabbawockeez, a popular American hip hop dance group tasked with freeing Earth from alien invasion alongside Rauw Alejandro.
Special effects were the main protagonists of the evening – a “very special” evening to be “the first show of my tour”, the artist claimed – simulating space, the control panels of a spaceship or video game images.
“THANK YOU RD, my first stage was with you, a lot of nervousness, but at the same time a lot of happiness in my heart to share all this with you”, wrote Rauw Alejandro just after the concert on his Twitter account, and, in fact, made the public the protagonist of his show, inviting them to sing with him, raising a couple to “perrear” on stage, mingling with his followers and recording the atmosphere of Quisqueya himself with a mobile phone.
Rauw Alejandro’s fans were delighted that he chose the Dominican Republic to open his tour, a concert whose prices ranged from 22,000 to 2,400 Dominican pesos, or 400 to 43 dollars.
Now, after passing through the Dominican Republic, the tour will go to the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, Mexico and Central America, then jump to Europe (Spain, France, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Netherlands, Romania, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Germany) and finally return to Latin America.
In all these places, Rauw Alejandro will present “Saturno”, his third album after Afrodisiaco and the success Vice Versa which included the song “Todo de ti” and is composed of eighteen songs, including “Lejos del cielo”, “Saturno” , “Gatas”, “Lokera” or “Tell me who”.
