In Hogwarts Legacy, Merlin Trials are puzzles and challenges that may or may not have been created by the most famous wizard of them all. No, not David Blaine. No, neither is David Copperfield. The clue is in the name: Merlin was the greatest wizard of all time, and his first name was probably not David. Anyway, while a student at Hogwarts, he’s said to have set up these challenges in this fictional region of Scotland, and one of the toughest is near Jackdaw’s grave in the Forbidden Forest. .

From Jackdaw’s Tomb Floo Flame, head east and find the Merlin Trial on the other side of the firefly pool. This Judgment of Merlin is one of those where you have to light three braziers in quick succession using one of your fire spells. The Baziers are quite far apart, so if you only have fire, which has a short range, you might find this Merlin test too difficult. If you don’t have Confringo yet, we suggest returning to Hogwarts and only returning to the Forbidden Forest after completing the In Undercroft’s Shadow quest and learning Confringo.

Confringo has a very long range, so using this spell you can hit all three braziers without moving away from the Merlin Trial marker. One of them is in a small clearing on the northern slope. Another is to the northwest between two large trees at the edge of the firefly pond. And the last one is behind a big tree to the northeast. If you’re having trouble finding them, use Revelio to make them appear bright blue. Only the brazier at the top of the pillar will display blue, the rest of the pillar will not.
