George Clooney (61) has been the recipient of the Kennedy Prize, which is awarded annually to performing artists for their lifelong contribution to American culture. The actor appeared at the ceremonial reception at the US State Department in Washington DC on Saturday evening (December 3) accompanied by his wife Amal Clooney (44).

The couple made a radiant appearance: He in a classic suit with a bow tie, she drew everyone’s attention in a strapless red robe with a long train. Clooney’s parents Nick (88) and Nina (83) also attended the event and posed with their son and daughter-in-law on the red carpet.

Great honor for George Clooney
The “Kennedy Center Honors” are apparently one of the most important awards that even Hollywood stars who have been spoiled by awards can receive. “Growing up in a small town in Kentucky, I never imagined that one day I would be sitting on the balcony at the Kennedy Center Honors,” said two-time Academy Award winner Clooney, touched. “This is truly an exciting day for the entire Clooney family.”

Other honorees of the year include singer Amy Grant, soul singer Gladys Knight, composer Tania León and rock band U2.
