Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Thursday that he will not participate in the upcoming G20 summit in Indonesia if Russian President Vladimir Putin attends.
In statements quoted by the Ukrinform agency, Zelensky said that he discussed preparations for the summit in a telephone conversation with Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who has reiterated his invitation to the Ukrainian leader.
However, when asked by journalists, he left it up in the air if he will participate virtually in the meeting, which will be held in Bali on November 15 and 16, since, according to what he said, he will not be guided by what other leaders do. of State.
“My personal position and that of Ukraine is that if the leader of the Russian Federation participates, then Ukraine will not. Let’s see what will happen,” he asserted.
kyiv has repeatedly called for the exclusion of Putin, who is invited but has not yet confirmed whether he will attend, from the G20 summit.

The Indonesian president reported on Wednesday that all G20 members except three countries have confirmed the participation of their leaders, but did not specify which ones are missing.
Putin was personally invited by Widodo during a trip to Russia last June, when the Indonesian president also traveled to Ukraine in a failed attempt to mediate the conflict.
Widodo had announced a peace initiative for Ukraine and at the summit, Indonesia will invite everyone to sit together and engage in constructive dialogue.
