Apparently, the young man was driving a motorcycle and did not respect a red light and crashed into a Mazda CX-5 truck; Authorities said the teen went airborne and hit the pavement.
A 14-year-old teenager died when he crashed while driving a motorcycle against an SUV this Saturday afternoon in the town of Homeland, Riverside County, authorities reported Sunday.
The mishap occurred at approximately 2:35 p.m. this Saturday near the intersection of Homeland Avenue and McWade Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
Authorities said the young man, identified as James Bond, was riding a dirt bike on McWade Avenue heading east when he approached the intersection with Homeland Avenue.
A Mazda CX-5 pickup truck, driven by a 58-year-old man. was traveling southbound on Homeland Avenue when the teen apparently failed to stop at a stop sign and crashed into the right side of the SUV.
The California Highway Patrol said the man went airborne and hit the pavement as the Mazda CX-5 continued to head southeast before colliding with a parked Jeep Liberty.
Emergency services said the teenager had died at the scene of the accident.
The driver of the Mazda CX-5 pickup truck and his passenger, a 72-year-old woman, suffered minor injuries. The woman had to be taken to a nearby hospital.
