BEIJING (AP) — Chinese President Xi Jinping will visit Russia between Monday and Wednesday in an apparent show of support for his counterpart Vladimir Putin, China’s Foreign Ministry said Friday.

The Kremlin also announced the visit, saying it was in response to an “invitation from Vladimir Putin”. The leaders will discuss “issues related to the future development of comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction between Russia and China”, in addition to exchanging views “in the context of deepening Russian-Chinese cooperation on international scene,” the president said. .

Xi and Putin will also sign “important bilateral documents”, the Kremlin added.
