ATLANTA (AP) — Jayson Tatum led a well-distributed offense, scoring 34 points, including 11 in the fourth quarter, as the Boston Celtics overcame a late-quarter comeback attempt to beat the Boston Celtics 134-125 on Saturday Atlanta Hawks.
The Celtics opened a six-man road trip with double-digit contributions from six different players. Jaylen Brown added 24 points. Tatum added 14 rebounds.
Trae Young had 35 points and 13 assists for Atlanta, which couldn’t maintain its strong run after back-to-back wins at Washington. The Hawks remain eighth in the Eastern Conference.
Boston had a 16-point lead (60-44), but the Hawks responded in the final period. The difference was reduced to five points before a three pointer from Smart made it 117-109.
A 3-pointer from Al Horford and a lay-up from Tatum extended the lead to 10 points.
