Willy Arturo Huerta Olivas was sworn in tonight at the Government Palace as the new head of the Ministry of Interior (Mininter), replacing Mariano González Fernández, who lasted only 15 days in office. In this way, Huerta Olivas, 59, becomes the seventh minister in this portfolio, just a few days after the one-year administration of Pedro Castillo’s government.

About his career, Willy Huerta He has a degree in Administration, graduated from the Faustino Sanchez Carrion National University of Huacho (Lima), with a Specialization in Administration from the San Francisco de Quito University (Quito, Ecuador). He also has a degree in Administration and Police Sciences, graduated from the School of Officers of the National Police of Peru (PNP).

He is also a lawyer graduated from the Alas Peruanas Universitywith a Master’s Degree in University Teaching and Pedagogical Research and a Doctorate in Management and Educational Sciences from the Saint Peter University and has postgraduate studies in Administrative Law and Public Management from the University of San Martin de Porres.

He has been a Senior Officer National Police of Peruwith 35 years of service to the Nation, serving as head of the Investigation Team of the Anti-Corruption Directorate in support of the Public ministry. He has also been decorated with the rank of Knight, Officer and Commander for Meritorious Services, to which, at his request, he obtained his pass to retire as of 2017, holding the economic rank of Colonel PNP.

He was also awarded a scholarship representing the National Police of Peru (PNP) on the School of Staff of the National Police of Ecuadorgraduating with honors as a Staff Officer and obtaining the Decoration of the National Police of Ecuador for Intellectual Effort (Professional Merit).

He has also worked as a specialist in Police Intelligence and Comprehensive Police Security, and has courses on Investigation of Crimes Against the Public Administration (Directorate against PNP Corruption, Investigation of Crimes Against the Public Administration – Money Laundering from Corruption in the Framework of the New Code of Criminal Procedure (Directorate against corruption PNP), Internal Control and Administration of Logistics and Human Resources.

He has been Head of the Office of Legal Advice of the Peruvian Episcopal Conference and litigated independently in the legal profession.
