As they announced on the weekend of March 4 and 5, public transport bus drivers attached to routes 12, 57, 84 and 91 de Mexico will lead a series of demonstrations and possible blockages in various parts of the capital. The reason for the protest is the lack of agreements with the Ministry of Mobility (SEMOVI) in the process of regularizing these routes.
hours at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 7 dissatisfied carriers will be present at the 20 de noviembre corner avenue with Izazaga, in the Centro district of the Town Hall of Cuauhtémoc. Although its main manifestation is planned in the first box of the CDMX, its presence in other parts of the city such as:
– Road to Taxco.
– Santa Ana Ave.
– Tlalpan road.
– Avenue Tlahuac.
– Bomb Causeway
– Route of the Miramontes.
The reason for the carriers’ disagreement is the transition process that the Mexico City authorities are carrying out on the four aforementioned routes. According to the demonstrators, SEMOVI commits the unilateral award lines to private companies.
In this sense, on the first weekend of March, they announced a possible mobilization for the seventh day of the month to make their dissatisfaction known. In response, the capital’s authorities, through the entity headed by Andrés Lajous Loaeza, issued a statement in which they called on the demonstrators to dialogue internally.
In the document, SEMOVI recalls that since 2022 the public transport service improvement works of the four routes, which is indicated in the mobility law. The process consists of removing the individual concessions that remain in force to make way for the formation of companies that regulate activities.
These routes should move from individual concessions to the incorporation of companies. With these changes, bad practices such as competition for rates, tortuguismo (traffic obstruction), poor service in general and lack of labor rights for operators, among others, will be eliminated,” they said. in the document published by the social networks of the CDMX secretariat.
According to officials of the Ministry of Mobility, people who are currently involved in activities related to the administration of the service can collaborate in new entities. Although the agreements have convinced some of the interested parties, there is another group that has chosen to do not accept the new conditions Operating.
One of the routes with the highest number of user complaints for poor driving practicesaccording to SEMOVI, is the number 57. In this sense, in August 2022, the creation of a society was requested and pledged to reduce disagreements, even if “a minority group refrained from participating”.
On the other hand, the routes 12, 84 and 91 have made further progress in building up society ABC to accommodate the transition. However:
“The dissatisfaction of a minority group of these three roads is due to the fact that a vote was held to elect the president of the company, who was elected by majority. A person who attended the meeting but did not obtain the necessary votes to chair the board of directors, he expressed his intention to create a parallel company, without the support of the majority of the dealers”, they explain in the document.
