The National Meteorological Service (SMN) predicted for this Monday low temperatures that will cause frost and cold weather in most of the country and occasional rains in some states, due to a low pressure channel over southeastern Mexico.
In a statement, the agency indicated that these conditions will be present in the western regions, center and south of the country, in addition to the Valley of Mexico.
In addition, a new cold front associated with a cold core vortex in the upper atmosphere will give rise to the sixth winter storm of the season over northwestern Mexico. causing a marked drop in temperature, strong winds and an increase in the potential for rainfall over said region.
While it is expected that for the early hours of Tuesday, due to these conditions, there will be snow or sleet fall in the mountainous areas of Baja California, in the north of the country.
The entity pointed out that for this Monday minimum temperatures will be presented from -15 to -10 degrees Celsius in mountainous areas of Chihuahua and Durango; from -10 to -5 degrees Celsius in the peaks of Baja California and Sonora.
In addition to temperatures of -5 to 0 degrees Celsius in the northern mountains of Aguascalientes, Coahuila, State of Mexico, Hidalgo, northern Jalisco, Nuevo León, Puebla, western San Luis Potosí, Tlaxcala and Zacatecas and from 0 to 5 degrees Celsius in the high regions of Guanajuato, Michoacán, western Oaxaca, Querétaro, Tamaulipas and Veracruz.
The SMN recommended that the population heed the indications of the National Civil Protection System, as well as avoid prolonged exposure to the cold environment, sudden changes in temperature, wear warm clothes and pay special attention to children, the elderly and the sick. .
The SMN also predicted heavy point rains in Chiapas, eastern Puebla and the central mountainous area of Veracruz and intervals of showers in Guerrero, Michoacán, Oaxaca, Quintana Roo, eastern San Luis Potosí and Tamaulipas.

Likewise, strong gusts of wind are expected in the Gulf and Isthmus of Tehuantepec and the Sea of Cortez. Swells of 2 to 4 meters high are also estimated on the western coast of Baja California.
