Vueling could accept payments with cryptocurrencies

Vueling, an airline belonging to the IAG group, is exploring the possibility of offering its passengers the option of paying for their tickets with cryptocurrencies; To do this, it will explore the technological capacity of NFTs (Non-fungible Tokens), together with the Valencian start-up Criptan, certified by the Bank of Spain.

To guarantee this service, the airline will have UATP technology, the global payment network for the airline industry.
In this case, Vueling and Criptan are already working on the investigation of strategic applications of blockchain technology and NFTs to provide their clients with innovative solutions and improve their user experience through digital tools, according to information from Hosteltur.
Jesús Monzó, Vueling’s Distribution and Alliances Manager, said that this agreement will place them at the forefront of new technologies and innovation, which will reinforce their commitment to their customers to offer the best and most advanced tools and solutions on the Internet.

For his part, Jorge Soriano, CEO of Criptan, assured that Vueling is proving to be a leader in innovation, in a clear move that shows the potential behind the crypto and web3 ecosystem.
Both companies agreed that they seek to improve the user experience, not only through crypto payments, but also by bringing the advantages of this ecosystem in the most useful and simple way possible.
