Zaluzhnyi pointed out on his Facebook page that “the defensive operation on the front of Bakhmut is of paramount importance from a strategic point of view to deter the enemy”.
He also stressed that he respected “the strength, courage and indomitableness of the Ukrainian soldiers in Bakhmut “, a front where the victims number in the thousands on both sides.
“The defensive operation on this front is of the utmost strategic importance to deter the enemy. This is the key to the stability of the defense of the entire front. Thank you to all the defenders who with dignity rejected the occupiers and achieved victory for Ukraine. (It’s) close!”, said the commander-in-chief.

They also wiped out 262 air defense systems, 304 combat aircraft, 289 helicopters, 2,132 drones, 907 cross missiles, 18 armed ships, 5,377 trucks and 257 special equipment units.
Russia has not provided data on casualties from the conflict since September, when Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu confirmed the death of 5,937 soldiers.
